I found the course quite easy to complete and navigate through the 10 modules and all the course material was helpful but I did find that there was not a lot of substance prior to taking each module and therefore some of the questions answered were educated guess work and although I passed first attempt it was not due to knowledge gained which came afterwards when I researched where I had gone wrong within each module. I am still waiting for my official certificate after completing the course some 5 or 6 weeks ago.
I liked the thought of trying phlebotomy for many years then whilst working in my local pub I decided to look in to the introductory training course. I was advised by a local hospital that Geopace was the best course and they found the people who had done this course worked well alongside current employees so I decided to enrol on the course. I did my course at Portsmouth, the teachers were fabulous and made the course easy to follow and fun too. Then after completion I managed to get a voluntary post at a Portsmouth Hospital and now 3 months after my course I have a full time job there. I am very happy and highly recommend this course to anyone wanting a career in phlebotomy. Thank you.
I was made redundant back at the end of April from my post as a Security Officer which I had held for many years. Once I had stopped work, I was looking for something to do when my wife saw an advert for phlebotomy training. I thought this training would suit me and applied, taking up the training course in July last year. On Day One I was a bit apprehensive as to what the training would be like, but once we got into the theory ... I found it very informative and enjoyable. Day Two was mostly practice and found this enjoyable too. The whole course gave a good foundation for phlebotomy work. At the end of the course the class were given contact details for looking for work and confirmation that I had passed the course. I went to my local surgery and asked if they would be willing to give me practical experience, which to my surprise they accepted after checking my certificate on completion of the theory course. I started the following week working with the practise phlebotomist, working four hours a week. At the end of eight weeks I was able to do most of the sample collecting myself, I was told that if I did over fifty vein punctures I would have my certificate upgraded to a competency certificate. I was also offered the position of practice phlebotomist at the surgery as the other person wanted to retire. I have now been working at the surgery since 2nd November as the phlebotomist. With the training from Geopace I think anyone could be able to obtain a phlebotomist position.
I decided to go for a complete career change so I took the opportunity to join Geopace on a two day course - I found it informative with excellent tutors whom I found very approachable. I knew after the first morning this course was the start of my new career and as a result I currently work in my local hospital and thoroughly enjoy! I completed the course in Liverpool and I found the course very thorough and it was explained clearly. The course was very enjoyable and I particularly found the tutors professional.
I had my training in phlebotomy (2 day course) at Reading, Berks last year. I did the training to be more employable and a multi-tasker. I was interviewed after the training in Oxford and Ashford Trusts for a trainee phlebotomist position but was not successful. I applied again later in a surgery and still not successful. I was so discouraged. But today I have started working as a phlebotomist, under supervision of a practice nurse. I am over the moon! On my first try to draw blood on a real person, I was shaking. But after few draws, I felt more relax and confident. Geopace Training made the difference. My job prospects had widened. Thank you Geopace, you are a star!
The course is very much hands-on ‘practical’ wise as well as easy to understand including the course notes of which I still refer to today. Artificial arms were used containing veins and artificial blood. As a retired police officer I started my post as a Community Phlebotomist being shadowed initially by experienced phlebotomists and for the previous few weeks am working alone in GP Surgeries and in the community. If you are wanting a career in phlebotomy then this course is a must!
