Easy Access to Varndean College

Getting to Varndean College is very easy. If you live in Brighton or Hove, you can catch the 5B right to the door.

Many of our students, though, come to Varndean College from significant distances away from Brighton. Their experience has been that it’s actually much simpler than they first thought to travel to and from Varndean College quickly and easily each day, due to the large number of bus and rail routes which provide quick and direct access.

Travelling to College from further afield

The closest station to the College is Preston Park which is several minutes walk from the College.  There are frequent trains stopping at this station, some of which are direct services:

From the West

From Worthing, there is a direct service to Preston Park via Lancing, Shoreham, Portslade and Hove.  There is one train every hour and the journey time from Worthing is only around 20 minutes.  There are additional services via Brighton Station.

From the North

From Haywards Heath, there are four direct trains per hour, calling at Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill and Hassocks. The journey time from Haywards Heath is approximately 16 minutes.

From the East

From Lewes, there are approximately four trains per hour, some stopping at Falmer, Moulsecombe and then London Road. London Road station is close to bus services to the college (or a 15 minute walk should you prefer!) From Newhaven, the 12/12A/12X buses run via Peacehaven, Saltdean and Rottingdean into central Brighton.  These are not direct services so you would need to catch the 5B bus which stops right outside the College.
