Having achieved Outstanding Status by Ofsted, Truro and Penwith College offers a number of courses suited for people of all ages. From A Levels to apprenticeships and vocational courses, the college has built both a local and national reputation as a supportive and innovative space for students. The result of a merger between Truro College and Penwith College, the institution saw the number of students double as well as academic results rise. In addition to the range of courses, students can also benefit from services surrounding careers, jobs and training to help them achieve their long-term goals.

About us

Truro and Penwith College is one of the best colleges in the country, a fact that was recognised by Ofsted when they awarded the College Outstanding status following their review in February 2016.

In 2018, the College again maintained its place as one of the top performing public 16-19 providers in the country in the DfE 2018 post-16 Performance Tables for schools and colleges.

From post-16 provision ranging from A Levels to Vocational courses as well as Apprenticeships, Access to Higher Education, Part-time Courses and University Courses, the College has something for every learner.

Location

Home to stunning purpose-built buildings with extraordinary backdrops of coastline and countryside across Cornwall, Truro and Penwith College provides the perfect location for an outstanding education.

Both campuses and all facilities are completely accessible to all students with lifts servicing every building. The dedicated transport office can help students sort out bus passes, some at a reduced rate, along with local transport timetables.

Cycle routes are also available surrounding the college, with bike storage and showers on-site as well to encourage students and staff to cycle to college.

If you would like to enrol on a course at the College you can find out more online, over the phone on 01872 267000 or by popping into any of our receptions where you will be able to pick up an application form.

Applications are taken at various points throughout the year, depending on the type of qualification you would like to complete. Details can be found on the website or by contacting the College.

Open days

Truro and Penwith College holds multiple Open Events between November and May that work around people’s work schedule with evening and weekend opportunities.

The events offer the chance for prospective students to come and tour the facilities, meet the staff and experience life as a student at Truro and Penwith College.

Activities are held around the College to give visitors a taste of the subjects while talks are given on Apprenticeships and University Courses to give a deeper insight into what’s on offer.

Fees & funding

Depending on your circumstances and the course you’d like to study, there may be funding available to help you.

You may be eligible for free tuition on many of our courses if you fit the following criteria:

  • If you are unemployed receiving JSA or ESA (Work Activity Group), Housing Benefit, Income Support or Council Tax Exemption;
  • Or you are 19-23 years old and the course is your first full Level 2/3 qualification.

Proof of fee remission must be produced before starting any course.
