This unique private art studio in Kensington offers small, friendly classes for beginners through to advanced students. Everyone gets to learn at their own pace, with plenty of individual attention from the expert tutors. We particularly like the fact that all your materials are included in the course fee, and we love the flexibility to customise your course. Signed up for watercolour but decide you also want to try your hand at oil painting or acrylics? Just ask! There are no fixed course dates, you buy a block of 10 sessions and just have to use them within 4 months of your start date, session times to suit you, subject to availability.

Life classes at Queensgate Studios are suitable for everyone from beginners to those who want to paint from life.
We keep these classes small, so there’s no competition for space and you can relax and enjoy the friendly environment and expert individual tuition. We provide all the materials you’ll need.
Classes are usually held on Thursday evenings. Each class includes three short warm-up poses with the model and one long pose to draw/paint the model from different angles and in greater detail.

Pastel is a lovely, versatile medium. At Queensgate we teach techniques for both soft pastels and oil pastels, helping you to make the key decisions such as choosing paper and backgrounds and establishing a source of light.

If you have a budding artist in the family, at Queensgate we teach children from the age of 6-7 years, depending on their level of concentration. Classes run on weekdays from 4.00 pm – 6.00 pm or during the day on Saturdays.
With small classes of up to 7 students, children get plenty of individual attention from our expert tutors, and the chance to learn simple drawing and composition, use of the palette knife, brush techniques, colour mixing and more.
Your child’s 10 x 2 hour sessions can be taken once weekly or more frequently by appointment, subject to availability. These are popular classes, so there might be a waiting list.
All course applicants must visit the studio in order to enrol so that we can make sure that they are happy with the studio and what we offer, that we can reasonably fulfil their requirements and that we have appropriate class times available to suit them. Children’s classes are especially popular, and there may be a waiting list.

We are conveniently located in Kensington. Please note that there are stairs to the studio, which means that it is not wheelchair-accessible, unfortunately.
Queensgate courses are flexible. You buy a course of 10 x 2 hour lessons, and you must use all 10 lessons within 4 months of your start date. The fee of £630.00 for your 10 lessons is payable on enrolment and includes all materials.
You have flexibility about what you study during your 10 weeks. Signed up for watercolour but want to try your hand at oils? Just ask!
Most students choose to come once a week, but can come more often, subject to availability. We have daytime/evening classes during the week and daytime classes on Saturdays. We require 48 hours’ notice of cancellation of an individual class, or the class fee will be charged.
