Course description

Taking Great Photos For Websites: Summer School:

What you will learn

Every business needs professional photography on their website. Learn to take great photographs of products, artworks, clothing, details, people and more. Use professional lighting and backgrounds and learn how to best display your photos with style on the web.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • Learn and practice manual camera skills to take pictures
  • Use camera skills for photographing 2 dimensional artworks and products
  • Use camera skills for photographing 3 dimensional artworks and products
  • Learn image editing skills to enhance photographs
  • Learn camera composition skills to make images with impact
  • Resize and prepare your images for display on the web

Additional entry requirements

During the course we may be going out to take photographs around the college and some lessons may be outside on location. A reasonable level of fitness will be required for walking and carrying equipment such as tripods. The studio also contains Apple MacBooks for uploading and working with images. It would be helpful if you have some familiarity with Macintosh computers and know how to use standard menus and commands, however this is not an essential requirement as these skills can be picked up during the course. The studio also has cameras and lenses which may be used by students while in class. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes, listen to instructions and discuss related topics, therefore students should have a reasonable level of skill in speaking, reading and writing in English. You may wish to revise and practise at home to reinforce what you have learned during the lesson. Information about computers and relevant software will be provided by the tutor.

The coding for beginners was an excellent course. It made me understand the concepts about coding and how it works. I have enjoyed so much Dalia's lessons (tutor).I've liked the resources that she uses and the structure of the course. Also, she has a fantastic approach respecting the different needs of each student. Furthermore, Dalia made me feel confident that coding is something that I can learn! It has empowered me to go further and even considering about become a web developer.
