Course description

Spanish Advanced:

This course is for students who feel confident speaking Spanish, who want to continue practicing it and expanding their knowledge of Spanish culture. The aim of this course is to keep up a good level of grammar, vocabulary and fluency. The course will involve the 4 language skills: speaking (discussions, debates, presentations); listening (to the tutor and other students and audio and video material); reading (of authentic text, including newspaper articles) ; and writing (letters, reviews of books or films, etc.). This course involves lots of conversation practice, giving opinions, ideas, some grammar revision with exercises and lots of fun. We will use authentic texts and grammar will be studied as required.

This course will cover anything that will inspire a conversation: current affairs, Spanish culture, historic events, family life, holidays, hobbies and past times, etc. We will also read a novel in Spanish and do some general grammar revision (subjunctive, passive, imperative, past tenses, etc.). On completion of this course we aim to offer an Advanced Part 2 continuation course in the summer term.

Additional entry requirements

Students should have studied Spanish for at least four years or equivalent.
