Course description

Shakespeare in Performance:

The course aims to study key speeches from different plays by reading together and watching/listening to performances on dvd/e focus will be on how how the speeches work in performance. We will engage with the linguistic and performance challenges which the texts present to actors, directors and designers. By analysing a variety of performances we will be able to evaluate the choices made. By the end of the course I should be able to: Read and discuss a speech from an informed perspective; Identify the genre and thematic concerns; Anaylse and evaluate ideas for dramatic realisation.
