SPORTS COACHING - LEVEL 2: This is a one year full time level 2 course geared towards a career in the fast growing industry of coaching sports. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who are seeking employment within the sports industry. It also provides a solid basis for progression to further study within this area. The course is made up of 7 units, each focusing on key areas of sport coaching. You will study to develop coaching skills working towards coaching qualifications. The course is predominantly practical based with supplementary theory session. The units covered include:
• Sports Coaching
• Participation in Sport
• Sports Skills and Tactics
• Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
• Physical Fitness and Injuries in Sport
• Planning, Delivering and Evaluating an Activity
• Performance Analysis for Sport
• Improving Personal Fitness
• Strength and Conditioning
• Functional Skills Maths and English
• GCSE Maths and English
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE.
Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths & English Functional Skills.
Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
Additional entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including Maths or English OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade D/3 or higher in Maths or English.
