Course description

Progress Your Painting and Drawing: The course is suitable for learners looking to expand on their ability to draw and paint with acrylics. During the course, you will experiment with different techniques in order to develop a more personal style of drawing and painting Although not essential, it is advisable that learners have attended a previous drawing and painting course. It is recommended that you have a good level of numeracy and literacy – as you will need to read handouts and produce a portfolio of work. You should also be dexterous (able to hold and use equipment). You will experiment with a range of drawing and painting techniques. You will explore using creatures, flowers, landscapes and seascapes as subject matter. You will be encouraged to work from your own source material. You will undertake research to aid the production of your art creating a portfolio charting the progress of your artwork with accompanying reflective written work. Your final piece of work will be reflective of the methods and ideas explored on the course. Through group discussion, demonstration and one-to-one tutoring you will discuss art and undertake exercises. You will create a portfolio of art experiments and a finished artwork with accompanying reflective written notes The tutor will monitor your progress through observations of drawing and painting projects set in class, discussing progress within each session. You will receive feedback on your artwork NOCN Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development You can progress onto other arts courses in a choice of subjects. Your tutor will be able to advise. "Learners will be expected to provide all drawing and painting materials used in class. Materials will be discussed in depth at the first session. Estimated costs of materials needed are between £30 and £50. You will also require some photographs for use as reference material.
