This Level 2 Apprentice course is ideally suited for those who have studied the Level 1 course in Cookery and wish to improve their abilities academically whilst using what they've learnt in the classroom to progress their talents in the workplace. You will learn more in-depth about how to prepare specific dishes and cuisines as well as understanding portion control and the benefits of healthy eating. Additionally to this you will learn to understand employment rights and responsibilities in the workplace.
You will study a range of subject areas including: Employment Rights and Responsibilities, Working effectively as part of a hospitality team, Food safety, Prepare and cook healthy meals, Skills to produce a variety of dishes using different cooking methods, Principles of kitchen documents and Portion control.
Assessment is by practical observations, course work, assignments and external tests. On completion, you will receive NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery (QCF). Once you receive this qualification, you will find opportunities of working as a Commis Chef which could include restaurants, hotels and casinos.
You must have the following to enrol on the course: Be employed within the industry; Reference from current employer and Assessment of Maths and English.
