Photography - Introduction to the Portrait with Model (SFY) [EDF258NZ]: Overview
This 1-day course will give you an insight into portrait photography. Through a series of practical exercises (indoor and outdoor), you will explore the technical aspects of portrait photography, how to enhance your photography and give a different and creative outlook in your photography.
What will we cover?
You will gain an understanding of how to work with studio lights, daylights and reflectors and how to pose your model.
There will be indoor and outdoor (if weather permits) exercises.
Gain confidence in using your camera and accessories and be encouraged to take part in group discussions and feedback/evaluations of the projects throughout the course. Build a portfolio of work.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
The course is suitable for those who have completed a beginner’s course or who have an understanding of how to work in manual. If you have not completed a beginner’s course with Surrey Adult Learning it is advisable to check with the tutor before enrolling. It is essential that you have your own camera and understand how to set exposure manually. This course is for any camera user (D-SLR, Bridge camera and mirror less camera) with a camera that has the ability to change Shutter speed, aperture and ISO manually on the camera.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need your own digital camera with a memory card, at least one lens.
Ensure that the batteries are fully charged. Please bring a notebook and pen; your tutor may suggest you keep a sketchbook or portfolio of your images. You will need to be capable of printing your images either at home or using a printing service
What can I do when I finish the course?
Longer and shorter photography courses and courses in digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop Elements are offered by Surrey Adult Learning. You may progress to joining a camera club or wish to study further for a qualification in further or higher education
