PLUMBING & HEATING - LEVEL 2: This course is for students who wish to work in the plumbing industry. This course is for both school leavers and adults. For those wishing to enter the plumbing industry experience would be an advantage. This course involves industry related practical workshop skills and exam based theory work.
Practical skills include:
• Copper Work
• Installation of Bathrooms Hot Water Cylinders
• Plastic Pipe Work
Theory work includes:
• Scientific Principles
• Central Heating
• Hot Water Installation
• Cold Water Installation
• Site Preparation
• Above ground damage
All LMC students will receive tutorial support. Students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects.
If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills.
Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
Additional entry requirements
• 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including maths/English and a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade D/3 or higher in maths or English.
• Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
