PATH TO WORK: The focus of this course is to help you develop all of the skills you will need to progress into further training, a Traineeship, an Apprenticeship or to employment. You will be involved in a number of practical enterprise activities to help you develop the skills you need to progress into your chosen career path. You will work in small, supportive groups to help improve self-confidence, interpersonal skills, Maths and English as well as team work. The course is suitable for school leavers who want to:
• Enhance and develop their employability skills
• Build their confidence
• Improve their functional and personal skills
• Work within a small, supportive environment You will study the following:
• Work Experience (as a group or individual both in and out of college)
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/4 will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
Additional entry requirements
You do not need any qualifications to join. You will need a willingness to learn, a commitment to your studies, and enjoy working with people.
Level 1 will require 3 GCSEs at grade G/1 or higher PLUS grade F/2 or higher in Maths and English.
