Microsoft Word 2010:

This course is for beginners wanting to learn the most widely used word-processing package : Microsoft Office 2010.

COURSE CONTENT

Open, save, exit, ribbon, tabs and groups, quick access toolbar, print preview, page breaks and print text, edit and add text/paragraphs, formatting - font, background colour, indents and margins, line spacing and text alignment, headers and footers, move text - cut, copy and paste, bullet points and numbering, search and replace, inserting WordArt, clip art, text boxes. As part of your course and where the opportunity occurs literacy/numeracy together with speaking and listening skills will be developed.

STUDY METHODS

Whole group teaching, demonstration, pair work, 1:1 help and guidance, exercises, handouts.

HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED

Ongoing informal tutor and self assessment.

WHERE NEXT - FURTHER STUDIES

The skills to create documents and simple layouts to a professional office standard using MS Word.

Additional entry requirements

Students should have experience of using the keyboard and mouse and be able to understand spoken and written instructions in English.
