Course description

Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting (Distance Learning) - Unit in Processing Bookkeeping Transactions (AQ2013):

This course is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance, covering a range of foundation accounting and finance skills in five mandatory units. This unit introduces students to the double-entry bookkeeping system, and associated documents and processes. Students will reach the stage of extracting an initial Trial Balance. This unit provides students with the skills necessary to operate a manual double-entry bookkeeping system. Due to the progressive nature of study, this module should be completed prior to attempting any other level 2 module. This course of study is delivered via distance learning. Included in the cost of the course are text and revision books, specialist online resources, one exam sitting, telephone and email support as well as limited one to one tutor support. This module will be assessed by way of a computer based assessment taken in college.

The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as: Accounts Administrator; Accounts Assistant; Accounts Payable Clerk; Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk; Trainee Accounting Technician or Trainee Finance Assistant. The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications.

Additional entry requirements

New applicants will be required to attend an interview at the college which will include a simple English and Maths assessment.
