Course description

Jewellery Making Course: Upcycling. By Juliet Goggin, acclaimed author:

During this one week online course you will learn how to do several upcycling projects, including upcycling the following vintage items to make unique and beautiful and inspiring jewellery:

Simple Button Bracelet
Salt spoon jewellery
Ceramic Thimble pendants
Tin pendants
Charm Bracelets
Typewriter keys jewellery
Kilt Pin Brooches
Watch Face Jewellery image

Juliette will walk you through some really creative ideas about how to source vintage items and turn them into unique jewelry pieces that money can’t buy.

Project 1

Have you got a collection of memorabilia you would love to re-purpose, or do you enjoy rummaging in junk shops, car boot fairs and brocantes searching for hidden treasures? In this lecture Juliette shows you how to get creative and up-cycle some of your favourite antiques and treasured junk into entirely new items to wear and to use every day.

Jewellery is an outward expression of ourselves, as well as a decoration to enhance an outfit. Sometimes we want to be understated and elegant, and at other times we prefer to be flamboyant and attract attention. And hopefully some admiring comments!

Project 2

For project 2 you will learn how to make a simple Button Bracelet and also complete a Silver Spoon jewellery project

Project 3

If you are fortunate enough to have a collection of old typewriter keys then you could try this alternative project using a kilt pin, without the loops used in the Salt Spoons item. You could also use a brooch back instead. If a stranger in a supermarket queue comments on your brooch, then you know you have really understood the fun involved in this project. I know how great that is, it happens to me a lot!

Project 4

Charm Bracelets are one of those items of jewellery that have always been bespoke to their owners. They are timeless and as popular now as they were in our grandmother’s day. Learn how to make a charm Bracelet using Silver Thimbles, Board Game Counters or Other Charms

Project 5

On this last project you will learn how to make a Ceramic Thimble Pendant.
