JOINERY - DIPLOMA LEVEL 2 FT: This course is for students who wish to work in the construction industry and progress onto level 3 or an apprenticeship. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the construction industry or those who are progressing from Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery. You will study the following:
• Using portable power tools
• Fixing skirtings, architraves and hinged doors
• 1st Fixing Before Plastering
• 2nd Fixing After Plastering
• Structural Carcassing
• Using Circular Saws
All LMC students will receive tutorial support throughout the course.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE Mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
Additional entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including Maths or English OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade D/3 or higher in Maths or English.
