Course description

Introduction to Photography Level 1:

This course is designed for beginners who would like to develop their photographic knowledge and skills. The course will include workshops which will take place in a photographic studio and on location. It aims to introduce students to a range of genres, styles and areas of photography including portraiture and landscape photography.

Through the combined delivery of practical and class based sessions students will be able to develop the following skills: Understand and use the manual controls of your camera, Understand exposure, Understand composition, Understand different light sources and how it affects photography, Understand the basics of colour and white balance, Use creative techniques to stand out from the ordinary, Basic post production techniques and preparation of digital photographs for print and online applications.

The course will be delivered by staff with extensive professional photography experience and each student will have the opportunity to develop skills with view top further study as appropriate.

Additional entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, just an interest in photography. Having your own camera to bring would be an advantage.
