It's been called the sexiest job of the 21st century. But what's involved in data science? And what makes it so sexy?!
In this course we will provide an introduction to data science by creating an analysis of Twitter data.
This course is a ideal for those looking to explore data science for fun or as a career.
Data Science Tasks
We will take a brief look at what data scientists do and the tools they use.
Getting your data
We will collect some Twitter data, clean it up and store it in a suitable file or database format.
Data manipulation
We will look at ways to handle data and implement some code to shape our Twitter data using the Python Numpy and Pandas libraries.
Data visualiation
We will look at ways to visualise data and implement some code to visualise our Twitter data using the Python Bokeh library.
Statistics
We will look at how to access various statistical methods using Python libraries and implement some code to perform statistical analysis of our Twitter data.
Students will pick skills in the following areas:

The weekend intro session about robotics was great. I have built my robot from scratch. I liked the approach that I was learning all stages of robot building. I design it, then we cut it from wood, assembled and then programmed in python. Llewellyn was great and helping me to get over challenges. He has a great wood workshop! So building robot how I designed was no problem. The only minus I can tell is that I haven't won the maze competition with my robot :)
Really enjoyed the weekend course on how to build a robot with the pi zero. The trainer is highly knowledgeable and patient helping you but not telling you the answer! He seemed to welcome lateral thinking and is truly multi-talented himself showing you that coding is only part of the challenge - building the robot was just as fun. Very welcoming. Great snacks and drinks too!
