How to Read and Understand Paintings:

This course aims to provide an ongoing introduction to Western Art History with a view to increasing enjoyment when viewing artworks. An informal look at great works and artists' lives in Western Art History as well as providing a guide on how to approach paintings, this course aims to increase enjoyment when viewing works of art.

By the end of the course I should be able to: Identify key artworks in Western Art History; Identify key movements in Western Art History; Identify the basic elements of a painting in the process of close looking.
