HAIRDRESSING AND BEAUTY THERAPY – INTRODUCTION: This course offers a sound introduction to the exciting and prosperous careers in hairdressing and beauty therapy. You will gain knowledge and learn new techniques and skills in a variety of basic hairdressing and beauty therapy services. The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in hairdressing or beauty therapy. You may study the following:
• Shampoo and conditioning
• Hair Plaiting
• Skin care
• Hand care
• Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
• Presenting a professional image
• Styling women’s hair
• Nail art application
• Basic manicure
• Basic pedicure
• Create a hair and beauty image
• Health and safety
• Compulsory work placement
All students aged 16-19 are required to study functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE Maths and/or English if not already awarded a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression to further or higher education, training or employment.
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
Additional entry requirements
3 GCSEs at grade G/1 or higher PLUS grade F/2 or higher in Maths and English
Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
