Course description

German Lower Intermediate (Year 2):

This Lower Intermediate German evening course is the follow-up to German Year 1(Beginners) . It runs over three terms that progressively build on one another and is aimed at people who have done around 60 hours of formal learning. Students learn new structures and vocabulary around different topics to extend the range of expression in this highly communicative course. Students build on and advance listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and cover the main points in German grammar. This part-time German language course enables communication with more variation and fluency, so students feel confident in most everyday situations with German native speakers. It also broadens their understanding of the German culture and way of life.

If you missed the October enrolment and you already have some knowledge of German, you can join the German Lower Intermediate class in Term 2 or 3 but you will need to have your level assessed.

Additional entry requirements

If you want to study on the next course in May (term 3) you should be able to handle fairly complex sentences. You should be able to narrate memories, past events with the imperfect tense and compare things; or approximately 100 hours of formal prior study; or have a recent and good GCSE.
