Course description

Foundation Year in Acting: This course is designed to expand your experience of acting and to increase the range of choices and techniques you can use as an actor. The course is also appropriate for students with Level 3 already who may wish to add a year to support applications to CDS and University or Drama School Please email to book your audition. This one-year course includes modules covering audition technique, voice, movement, improvisation, scene analysis, method acting and acting for the camera. It culminates in an end of year public performance in our theatre. There is a strong emphasis on developing and maintaining a professional approach and attitude throughout the course. The teaching and learning is very practical with an emphasis on doing and exploring. Lessons are taught by a combination of tutors and include workshops, visits, presentations, lectures, group and individual work, debates and discussions and performances. You will encounter visiting speakers, workshops, acting companies, and visiting local actors, including regular visits from alumni. In previous years this has included: Tom Hardy, Sam Waters, Nic Knight and Cinnamon casting. The approach is professional and many past students have gone on to gain places at major drama schools and, if appropriate qualified, at universities. Course Outcomes You will learn how to use physical transformation as a basis for characterisation You will learn how to use your voice and adapt it to differing environments and character requirements You will learn how to use improvisation both as a performance and rehearsal technique and how to apply 'accept and build ' in both uses. You will learn and demonstrate auditioning technique You will learn how to interpret text according to the writer's ideas and intentions You will learn how to 'action' text according to given circumstances You will learn verse speaking You will learn and demonstrate professional behaviour in rehea

Started career as cartoonist Eagle Girl Robin and drawing live telling stories BBC/ITV childrens progs. before becoming music entertainment staff producer. So it was with trepidation started once more with Life classes at RACC.very rusty seeing all the faults. however tutor is marvellous very accomodating allowing freedom introducing different approaches showing various artist's style etc. and easy with everyone giving simple help and advice. Continuing and also going to try the Portraiture class. Richmond College is excellent.
