ELECTRICAL - LEVEL 2: This course gives the learner a deeper understanding to both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical installation and can lead to an Electrical Apprenticeship or progression onto the full time Level 3 Electrical Installation. Electicians have exciting opportunities of work varying from domestic settings to industrial environments. This course requires you to actively solve problems and is ideal for someone who wants to pursue a hands on career. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults wishing to become involved in the electrical industry and associated disciplines. You will study the following:
• Cables and accessories.
• The National Grid.
• Trunking, tray and conduit systems.
• Running a business.
• The construction industry.
• Installing wiring systems & enclosures.
• Health and safety.
• Sustainablility in domestic dwellings.
• Electrical science and technology.
• Circuit types.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English and maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
Additional entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including Maths or English OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade D/3 or higher in Maths or English.
Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
You will also need an enthusiasm for the subject and commitment to study.
