ELECTRICAL - LEVEL 1: This course gives the learner a good introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical installation and can lead to an Electrical Apprenticeship or progression onto the full time Level 2 Electrical Installation. Electicians have exciting opportunities of work varying from domestic settings to industrial environments. This course requires you to actively solve problems and is ideal for someone who wants to pursue a hands on career. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults. You will study the following:
• Cables and accessories.
• Trunking, tray and conduit systems.
• The construction industry.
• Health and safety.
• Sustainability in domestic dwellings.
• Electrical science and technology.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English and maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
Additional entry requirements
3 GCSEs at grade G/1 or higher PLUS grade F/2 or higher in Maths and English.
Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
