Dressmaking - the next step course builds on the basic skills taught during the first term. More skilled techniques are taught so that more challenging sewing projects can be undertaken. Depending in the progression and the learner's pace, one or more basic garments may be produced. You will learn How to adjust patterns, and simple pattern drafting How to sew various zip fastenings How to sew more challenging techniques such as a placket, boning and using stretch and fine fabrics, etc To be familiar with certain fabrics and finishes Be able to confidently construct a item of clothing following a commercial paper sewing pattern instructions.
