Course description

Drawing & Sculptural Construction [EDG6763G]: Overview The aim of this workshop is to explore a range of approaches and methods of construction in relation to the human head using sheet material to produce one or more free standing sculptures. Not only will it be informative on how to approach working three dimensionally but in doing so it will enhance observational drawing skills. What will we cover? The workshop will cover the manipulation of sheet material through the use of examples and demonstrations covering cutting, bending, slotting and fixing. Drawing approaches using measuring and line will be used as a means of information gathering in order to establish three-dimensional possibilities for sculptural constructions. Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining? The workshop is for all abilities; beginners and improvers, but if learners have not drawn or worked three dimensionally before then there is no need to worry as full support is given throughout the day. As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English. What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs? Please bring as a minimum 4 sheets of A1 (minimum 600gsm) card or minimum 8 sheets of A2 (minimum 600gasm) card. Scissors, craft knife, steel cutting edge/ruler, pencils, eraser, sharpener, UHU general-purpose adhesive, masking tape and general art materials including colour. What can I do when I finish the course? Use the skills acquired to enhance your own drawing and making skills, join one or more of our drawing courses offered at our adult learning centres Additional information Learners are expected to bring their own materials. The tutor may bring additional materials. We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible.
