Course description

Digital Photography: Improvers:

This course is for more experienced photographers who want to delve deeper into the camera's functions and hone their skills to be more creative in their photography. This intensive course will introduce you to exciting projects and you will soon see your pictures and skills improving. This course will give you creative control over your camera thereby encouraging you to take photographs with intention, rather than letting the camera do all the work. A thorough grounding in exposure and working in various light conditions will increase confidence. The project work will be given in class and for you to do at home and will be shared with the class to encourage constructive feedback.

By the end of the course you will be able to

Extend your camera and photography skills via new techniques
Understand the range of equipmwent available for the advanced photographer
Make photographs in response to given projects
Control a wide range of camera functions to take photographs with intention
Give and receive constructive feedback on your work via a Flickr group page
Explore image post-production techniques at a basic level.

Additional entry requirements

Ideally students will own a camera that gives access to manual controls. A keen interest in the subject is key to your success and the ability to attend the sessions regularly in order to get the most out of the course is desirable. As part of the course you will be asked to read tutorials, take notes, listen to instructions and discuss related topics, therefore students should have a reasonable level of skill in speaking, reading and writing in English. This course can be taken alongside with any of our digital design, film and photography courses and will help you to gain the confidence you need when working with cameras and film making equipment. The best thing to bring with you is energy, enthusiasm and commitment.

Pattern Cutting Intermediate
by Sandra - July 2018

I heard about Morley College from another student back in autumn 2015 and decided to check it out. I was completely in awe about all the courses on offer and have been a regular student since January 2016. I started with Beginners Pattern Cutting, increased to Intermediate Sewing and am currently enrolled in 5 courses including Professional Sewing Techniques, Couture Garment Construction, How To Make Your Own Block and Occasion Wear. The tutors are phenomenal and have such a broad knowledge. Teaching is both in groups but also individually depending on the project. I absolutely love coming to my classes and could be at Morley College every day!

Wood carving and Wood sculpture
by Kamila - March 2018

I've just finished the Thursday evening wood-carving classes at Morley College, and I've enjoyed it so much. It was my first wood-carving course, and I'm only doing it for fun, and I've already learned so much. The teacher, Tim Norris, is so friendly, helpful, and great at explaining the technique that I've already signed up for next term's course!
