Course description

Computing - Adobe PhotoShop - Stage 1 [HEG3743G]: Overview This course uses Adobe Photoshop on an Apple Mac Computer and is designed for those with an interest in manipulating and enhancing digital photographs and creating digital content. You should be an Apple Mac user and know how to navigate the iOS operating system. What will we cover? • Identify different areas of the Photoshop workspace • Manipulate images using a variety of tools • Look at layers • Identify different image types • Save your work in a variety of image file formats • Improve the general appearance of images • Create composites from a selection of different images • Look at image resizing and resolution • Use the Photoshop Help facility Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining? Ideal course if you are a beginner with a little or no experience of using Adobe Photoshop. However, you must be proficient using an Apple computer and fully understand the Apple Mac operating system. If you are new to Apple computers, please complete one of our Apple – Mac – An Introduction or Stage 1 courses first. It is preferable that you have a copy of Adobe Photoshop on your home computer (a recent version is preferable) in order to develop your skills further outside the classroom. As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English. What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs? Please bring a pen and notebook. Handouts and exercises will be provided. All images used on the course will be available to download. A USB Memory stick will be useful to save completed work. What can I do when I finish the course? On completion of this course, you can progress on to any of the following: • Adobe Photoshop –Stage 2 • Web Design – Using HTML – An introduction • Web Design – Using WordPress – An Introduction • Social Media – An Introduction • Social Media – Creating a Blog Additional information We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
