CHILD CARE LEARN & DEV - DIPLOMA L2 FT: This is a one year full time course combining development of practical skills in schools and nurseries supported by College based study.
The course provides the knowledge, understanding and competency necessary for employment within the childcare and education sector.
The course is suitable for School Leavers who want to work with children aged 0-8, or progress onto Level 3 study. During the course you will study different subjects which all relate to childcare and education including:
• Patterns of Child Development
• Promoting Children's Development Through Play
• Principles of Early Years Practice
• Promoting Children's Positive Behaviour
• Health and Safety
• Supporting Children's Language
• Working in the Early Years Sector
As part of the course you will also have to attend placement in a nursery/pre-school and school. This will give you the opportunity to apply what you learn in college to what you do, and see in placement.
All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE
Maths, English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into Further or Higher education, training or employment.
All LMC students will receive tutorial support.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or higher including Maths or English OR a Level 1 related qualification PLUS grade D/3 or higher in Maths or English.
