This course is ideal for you if you want a practical introduction to business and administration. The course is designed to offer a taster of what it would be like to work in one of these areas and you will learn new skills.
You will be studying key areas, including: The roles and responsibilities of working in business administration; How to support business meetings; Be able to use different office equipment in a business environment; Use different methods of communicating electronically; Taking part in group projects and Develop business ideas for a small business. Maths, English and IT are an essential part of your course and you will work towards a qualification at an appropriate level of pre-GCSE or GCSE.
To pass the course you will be assessed via practical assignments, coursework and external exams in IT, maths and English. The majority of students who complete the Level 1 course progress onto the Level 2 Business or Level 2 Business and Administration course. Alternatively, you may go into employment within the business and administration sector. You will be supported through a series of tutorials to determine your career path. You will be given guidance to complete internal application forms or external job applications.
There are no formal qualifications required; it depends upon experience and attitude. No past experience of using computers is required but is an advantage if you have used Word Processing packages in particular. Depending upon your qualifications / experience, a diagnostic test in English and Maths may be used to check that you have the skills needed.
