Course description

BTEC Level 3 Interactive Media & Games Design:

Creative Media Production is an exciting and challenging course which encourages you to critically engage with and evaluate a broad range of moving image products. The course is designed to provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in the media industry and allied sectors.

The 90 Credit qualification is a one year full-time course and is equivalent to 1.5 A-levels. The natural progression on successful completion is into a second year for completion of a full Extended Diploma; the Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A-levels. Some mature students however may choose to progress from the 90 Credit one year course directly into employment or alternative training.

In this first year you will develop a range of practical and theoretical media skills from moving image, animation, radio, graphic design, photography and journalism. You will also learn critical employability skills such as how to plan, direct, produce and edit your own film.

The Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production is an ideal route for students looking to progress to universities or on to our Foundation Degree (FdA) in Media Skills. However, a significant number use the 90 Credit Diploma as a direct step into a career in the media industry.

Additional entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4, including English or equivalent Level 2 qualification. Evidence of media work, successful interview and satisfactory reference. For second year entry (Extended Diploma) onto the Creative Media Production pathway, successful completion of a 90 Credit Diploma in Creative Media Production and satisfactory reference.
