This course has been designed for students interested in pursuing a career in programming for games applications. The course provides a basis for further training and higher education or for moving into employment. Students can develop the skills, knowledge and understanding, that underpin a range of occupations in this industry.

Games programming is both competitive and challenging. For students who want to pursue a career in this field Uxbridge College is one of the few institutions that offer the courses that will prepare you for the industry. Using the standard BTEC Level 3 units, we have added the specialist games development and computer animation units to develop a games development pathway. You will be given the opportunity to develop your own games throughout the course.

2D animation production
Event driven programming
Computer games design
Software design & development
Drawing concept art for computer games
Computer game engines.
By the end of the course you will be equipped to either enter the games software industry or progress to any software development/computing related degree.
Although the primary focus of this course is to teach you games programming, you will develop a solid understanding that will enable you to enter into the field of software development.
You will learn industry standard languages such as C++, and you will build a solid understanding in various aspects of computing.
In addition to this, the course will provide you with the personal and organisational skills required to ensure you can offer a complete package to the potential employer or educational institute.
5 GCSEs grades A*-C (grade 9-4) including English and maths (minimum grade B) or a relevant Level 2 qualification preferably with a distinction (merit may be considered) including English and maths at Level 2.
