IT is a constantly evolving sector with new jobs always coming available. This specialist work-related qualification is designed to develop technical knowledge and personal skills that are essential for success in IT.
What will I study?
You’ll study a range of IT applications, with introductory subjects including:
Improving productivity using IT - learn to use IT systems and software efficiently to complete planned tasks
IT user fundamentals - carry out routine maintenance of IT systems and respond to routine IT system problems
Software fundamentals - select and use software applications to meet needs and solve problems
Design and imaging software - learn to use software tools to create, manipulate and edit designs and images
MS Office - enter, edit and combine information accurately within Microsoft office programmes
Website software - plan, create and publish web pages to the Internet or an intranet using website software tools to structure and format web pages
Employability skills - explore self-management, team working, customer awareness, problem solving and communication
In line with new Government policies, to make sure the UK is prepared for a world where almost every role will need an element of digital skills by 2023, this qualification will now factor in basic and general digital skills. These skills are specifically required for IT job roles across the economy and will ensure you are prepared for demanding job roles.
Alongside your course you’ll study English and maths and take part in GAP work placements to develop your skills and confidence.
What can I do next?
You can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Information and Creative Technology, where you will continue to develop the skills needed to eventually work in specialisms such as: technician, games designer and support, internet/web professional and many more.
Ambition, attention to detail and passion for new technology is a must for success on this course. You will also be required to attend a course introduction meeting.
