Course description

Assessor Award:

The Assessor Award is an accredited Level 3 qualification, which will demonstrate your competence in assessing in either the workplace or the classroom.

The final qualification depends on the units taken:

Unit 1 & 2: Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment.
Unit 1 & 3: Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.
Units 1, 2, & 3: Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Unit 1 is the theory unit and is comprised of essay assignments, you would then need unit 2 if you are assessing in the workplace and unit 3 if assessing in the classroom or both if assessing in both.

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)
Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment (6 credits)
Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding ( 6 credits)

Unit 2 and 3 are both assessed through a portfolio of evidence, for these units you will need to be in an assessing role, you need to have access to at least two people taking assessments. You will also need to be observed carrying out the assessments, this can be by someone at your workplace (they would need to be provide evidence of their Assessor and IQA qualifications) or alternatively you can record yourself carrying out the assessments and send these in to be assessed. You also need to show evidence of planning assessments, giving feedback to students and that you are adhering to legal requirements including Health and Safety.

When you begin your course, you will be allocated a tutor and provided with access to our online Moodle site, you will then be able to work through the course at times suited to you, we are here to help guide and support you through. All assignments are uploaded to the Moodle site, this is a straight forward process, but we also provide guides or you can call us for assistance if required.
