In this course you will develop your skills and creative ideas in a range of materials, techniques and processes working in two and three dimensions. On the course, you will create a portfolio of practical work, visit galleries, museums and places of interest, exhibit work in public exhibitions, be involved in competitions and live projects and be involved in enterprise activities.
The course covers about sculpture, ceramics, textiles, graphics design, mixed media, photography, printmaking, drawing, painting, research and illustration. Students will be continually assessed on your coursework, the standard of your written work, i.e. English skills and where appropriate numeracy and a final major project. Students could go on to finding a career in graphic design, photography, textiles or many more art-based industries.
Students need to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs with the following grades: English and maths at 3 or above, and 2 other GCSE’s grade D or above And a portfolio of work OR A minimum of four GCSEs grade D or above, including English language, and maths at grade E or above, or a level 1 art and design qualification at pass, English at level 1 and maths at entry level 3.
