Course description

Arabic Improvers: This course aims to consolidate language skills of students who have recently completed a Beginners course at Imperial College or elsewhere (A1 level of the Common European Framework) with specific focus on communication.

The approach is communicative and cultural aspects relating to the Arab world will be injected through various activities. Throughout the course, Modern Standard Arabic will be the language used and students will be encouraged to communicate in the target language in the classroom.

The course will review some topics and grammatical structures from the Beginners’ course: possessive pronouns, possessive case, interrogative particles, human-non human plural forms, sound and broken plurals, numbers, past tense, telling time and present tense. Future topics may be included according to students' level and needs.

By the end of the course, students should be able to interact in Arabic in various situations having reached a lower intermediate level (A1+CEFR).
