In this course students will learn the key concepts of marketing operations. These skills involve developing an understanding of marketing theory; the principles of market research and the legal, regulatory and ethical requirements for sales and marketing. It underpins personal responsibilities in conducting marketing activities and methods of conducting market research activities.
The apprenticeship comprises the following qualifications: NVQ Certificate in marketing Level 2, Certificate in principles of marketing Level 2 and Functional skills in maths, English and ICT. The purpose of this qualification is to equip you with the knowledge and competence you’ll need to work effectively in a marketing or PR role. The objective is to develop competence and knowledge in a range of activities, including: Be able to conduct marketing research, Contribute to measuring marketing response, Work with other people in a marketing environment, Improve own performance in a marketing environment and Contribute to direct marketing campaigns. There are more optional units appropriate to the job role of the apprentice to choose from.
To achieve the knowledge and competence elements of the Certificate in Marketing and the Principles of Marketing, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units, which are assessed through the production of a portfolio of evidence and written assignments. Intermediate apprentices can progress onto the Level 3 advanced apprenticeship in Marketing or other advanced apprenticeships such as Customer Service, Business Administration, Retail, Sales, and Management. With additional training, intermediate apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to roles such as marketing executive, PR executive, PR officer, research executive.
You must have an employer to support you through your Apprenticeship and give you time off work to attend college. Many people find their own job or are already employed, but if not college staff can attempt to help you find employment. You will be working in marketing role for a minimum of 30 hours per week and able to undertake work to satisfy the criteria of the qualification. Maths, English and ICT at Level 2 in Functional/Key Skills or GCSE A* - C will exempt the learner from these aspects of the Apprenticeship framework.
