This thematically led course considers key examples of arts and culture in the 18th century. Taking as a connecting theme the styles of the Romantic period, we will explore Europe's cultural landscape. Sessions will include Napoleonic France, English landscape painters, and romanticism in literature. This course aims introduce students to key aspects of the history, art and culture of Europe in the early 19th century.
