Course description

Adobe Acrobat: Managing PDFs in Production:

PDFs for print or screen are now the favoured format to send files, but there are many flavours and elements in a PDF. The Adobe Acrobat: Managing PDFs in Production one day course will show you how to use Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and Illustrator to edit images. You will also look at how to create, check and correct issues for your PDF/X compliant files ready to present to clients. Perfect your skills in enhancing resolution, transparency, links, colours space and ink manager. Learn the tools of trim and bleed, object inspector and overprint to create high quality images.

The day is based around interactive lectures, examples with lots of practical’s and discussion to enhance your understanding of PDFs in production. You are also encouraged to bring your own files and prints for immediate problem solving.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Analyse how files are created from images, to layout, PDF creation and delivery
Understand and create PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 standard files
Use preflighting software to identify and correct files
Control the colour on screen, in Adobe CS to print

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for designers and printers who make or need to check PDFs. Anyone responsible for creating magazines, packaging, reports for print and web.


Intermediate. Students will have some knowledge of Adobe CS and Acrobat.
