May is turning out to be exciting for Plumpton College wine team.
First: the annual London Wine Fair (May 3-5th). With eighteen thousand wine trade professionals attending the event, Plumpton will be offering their white, red and sparkling wines.
Next: the annual Plumpton College Open Day the 14th of May - a huge event that thousands of people attend. College will be open to the public, and a wide range of exhibits and activities will be on show.
Finally: the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium. This ‘Olympics’ of the wine world, held every four years in a different continent, is taking place in Brighton from the 26th to the 28th May.

With modern laboratories & research centre, forestry facilities including the Woodland Enterprise Centre at Flimwell & a Wine Research Centre, the College provides a supportive, engaging atmosphere. Plumpton College is located at the foot of the picturesque South Downs in the centre of the South Downs National Park. This location offers students a perfect environment in which to study their chosen subject. The College is six miles from Lewes, the County Town and nine miles from Brighton. Major transport routes are within easy reach and London is only an hour away. The College is close to the village of Plumpton Green where there is a local shop, post office and bus and train services.

Commercial work experience - The College has commercial units covering agriculture, wine, equine, horticulture and animal science, enabling you to be ‘hands-on’ in industry situations whilst learning practical skills using our excellent facilities.

A record crowd of over 15,000 visitors attended the Open Day at Plumpton College last Saturday. The open day was considered a great success, with many visitors complimenting staff and students on the range of course displays, student ambassadors, careers information and good value attractions. The event attracted visitors from throughout the South East and overseas. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the centre of the South Downs National Park, Plumpton College offers the ideal setting and facilities to study land-based courses.
The commercial farm with a variety of dairy cattle, a wide range of crops and grassland, the vineyards with modern machinery, two well-equipped equine yards, the College estate with excellent facilities and a wide range of outdoor activities, extensive woodland, a very wide range of habitats and conservation areas, workshops for blacksmithing, jewellery work, forestry, hard landscaping skills, Plumpton caters to the needs of students.
Returning to full time education on the FdSc Forestry & Woodland Management course seemed a daunting prospect, but any concerns were soon eased. The attentive staff and clear course structure showed what to expect and what was required. All the staff are here to help you personally achieve the goals you set yourself, and in many cases exceed them. The varied course provides all the attributes that will stand every graduate in good stead, with Plumpton College recognised as providing an excellent qualification for industry needs. I couldn't recommend the course highly enough.
