Access to Nursing and Midwifery
The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery with Harriet Ellis is a part time course that requires you to study in the classroom for just 12 hours per week and you will also be required to spend a minimum of 10 hours per week at home completing the coursework. This qualification will allow you to work in the industry and potentially gain entry to universities where you can study further in order to be a fully qualified Nurse or Midwife.
In order to become a nurse or a midwife in the UK you need to study at an University. You will need to study the course relevant to the career you want; Adult nursing, Child nursing or Midwifery (there are more courses).
In order to study at an University, you need to meet the entrance requirements for the course. This usually involves achieving A levels. If you do not meet these requirements, one option is to study an Access course. The entrance requirements for access courses may vary between Universities and you may need to complete credits at a higher grade in order to meet the requirements. There are no entrance requirements to study our Access course.

The Opera Software (Hotel Reception) course has been carefully designed to enable candidates to train into a career within the Hospitality industry. Heavily Incorporated within the course is the facility of Opera software in which our students can navigate around the software system familiarising themselves with the popular Hotel Database. Our students will be handed their own laptop to use during the course to really explore the software and to gain an excellent knowledge of the system that is used by many chains of Hotels worldwide.
The course runs over 3 days from Wednesday - Friday, 9:30am - 4.30pm. Courses will run monthly.
Included in the price of the course are refreshments and all materials necessary for the course. As a student at the Harriet Ellis, you will be part of a national network of adult learners! Your class will be full of students who you will soon call your friends. Class sizes range from 16 through to 22, which is the perfect size to be able to enjoy a wide range of study methods. During your studies you will require some resources. Harriet Ellis provides you with the most important text books which you need to be successful in your course, however you may want to buy some study guides to help you along the way. It is a good idea to stock up on note pads, pens and any other stationary items which will help you to study.
We are all aware how tough studying can be, so you will be allocated a dedicated customer service officer to look after you throughout our course. They will be hunting for employment for you, reviewing your CV, giving you interview tips and ensuring that you are supported throughout your time as student.

All of our classrooms are equipped with a projector and/or screen, whiteboard / flipchart and comfortable chairs and desks. Access is either ground level or via a lift, except for Manchester. If mobility requires consideration then our team will be able to advise you of the exact facilities at each centre.
Once you have been to the centre, you will know where to go. The classroom is normally the same for every session, although in some of our larger centres you may need to be in a slightly different room for an evening. If this happens then there will be signs to let you know where you should be.
