CHAMPNEYS STUDENT FOLLOWS IN HER MOTHER'S FOOTSTEPS
Growing up, Lauren Carney heard her mother talk about her positive experiences as a student at Champneys College. So when it was time for Lauren to embark on her own educational journey, she knew exactly where to start.
"My mum is proud to be a Champneys College alumni," said Lauren. "She told me all about the experiences she had and how it had stood her in good stead for the future. Champneys College has a wonderful reputation - a reputation that dates back to 1976, when it was founded. And I wanted to be part of that."
Lauren was one of seven students, plus two CIDESCO Diploma successes, to graduate from the recent 10-month CIDESCO Fast Track programme; an intensive course with an extended syllabus and a minimum of 1,300 college hours. Graduating with the following qualifications, CIDESCO Diploma in Beauty Therapy, ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Treatments, ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy and ITEC Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Skincare, Lauren was also named Therapist of the Year.
"I was delighted to have won the Spring 2016 Therapist of the Year," added Lauren. "It was very intense and you're worked very hard, but you also get a lot of support and guidance. The training at Champneys College is fantastic and I loved every minute of the programme."
"I’ve learned so much about the beauty industry and I feel confident in using my skills to the best of my ability. I'm ready for the next chapter of my career and looking forward to establishing myself within the beauty industry. I know that my mum is very proud."
Lauren's mother, Carole Carney, graduated from Champneys College in 1988 and was named as the top CIDESCO Student in the process. Now in its 40th year, the Champneys College continues to go from strength-to-strength and is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading beauty colleges.
"The college has a long history of success," explained Carole. "And my daughter Lauren and I are part of that, which is nice. I was delighted to have been named the top CIDESCO Student in 1988, and I was extremely proud of Lauren too, who graduated some 28 years after I did.
Lauren is now setting up her own mobile beauty therapy business.
"The training that the students receive at Champneys Beauty College is renowned within the industry and therefore very beneficial when choosing a career in health and beauty. As a former student and the mother of a recent graduate, I couldn't recommend the college enough."
Most of the graduates, who joined from all over the UK, will now go on and work within the Champneys Group. With one graduate planning to set up her own salon in Portugal.
Among the Champneys alumni, former students have not only gone on to make an impact at Champneys - including current College Principal Rachel Halling - but also further afield, with key positions held at the likes of Vogue, Estee Lauder and Elemis.
Carole Lindsay, CIDESCO Qualification Development Manager added: "Champneys College aims for quality, employability and fulfilment. I have examined all over the world and Champneys are up there with the best. Their therapists are well regarded in the industry - they are exceptionally professional and highly qualified."
