These can’t be drawings...can they?

When it comes to paper and pencils, we are the first to admit over here on the editorial desk, none of us are particularly talented – give us a camera and an Instagram filter any day. Despite that, we are always impressed by those who can create masterpieces using lead. To get you inspired to take that drawing course you have always thought about, we have found seven of our favourite drawings that are just too realistic. If this doesn’t get you grabbing your notebook, pencil sharpener and rubber, we don’t know what will.

Angelina Jolie

Possibly one of the most photographed women on the planet, this instantly recognisable actress is never out of the public gaze. We just can’t get over how perfectly this artist has captured Jolie’s eyes and think the world would agree if he had drawn on her wedding dress it would have been far less controversial.

Any spare change?

We know this isn’t a scrunched up ten euro note on a piece of paper, but it is just so real it looks like you could reach out and grab it. The most impressive part of the drawing is the metal strip on the note – how artist Marcello Barenghi did it we just don’t know.

We’re sure you will agree, if it wasn’t for the hand and the pencil, we wouldn’t believe this was not an eggy mess captured on film.

Jaw dropping stuff

This optical illusion is one that sends shivers down our spines. Also, we dare you to try and look at this without hearing the Jaws theme tune in your head.

An eye for detail

This one literally blew our minds, just how can you get the eyelashes and the eye to look so perfect?

Stop the traffic

Why leave your art skills to the studio? This artist created some traffic stopping work when he made a 3D hole in the pavement.
