Anyone who reads the party pages of Hello will have at some point wished they had been invited to some of the fancy parties the rich and famous have held. We can't promise you any invites, or the kind of riches that mean you can hold your own expensive bash, but an events management course could be a way to get a little peak into the world of posh parties and see you planning some of the most lavish events out there. For those who want to dream, here are five events you probably wish you had attended…
Beijing Olympics
These games cost almost £30 billion. Aside from building venues to host the games, the Chinese built new train lines, an airport terminal and new roads.
The Royal Wedding
Kate and Will spent an estimated £20 million on their wedding which included over 2,000 guests, a dress designed by Sarah Burton, an eight tiered cake and Ellie Goulding performing at the reception.
The opening of the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai
Known for being one of the swankiest hotels in the world, it's unsurprising it had such a lavish opening night. Kylie Minogue performed, a huge fireworks display was put on, and Hollywood stars were flown in especially for the event. Total cost is said to be around £15 million.
P.Diddy's 40th birthday party
Celebrities are frequently holding lavish parties but this one cost almost £2 million. It involved £15,000 worth of white orchids and was held at the very posh Plaza Hotel on 5th Avenue in New York.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' wedding
Though the marriage didn't last, the day was definitely something to write home about. Kim wore three different designer dresses and the couple spent £1 million on flowers alone. Total cost was said to be £6 million.
If you fancy planning some events like this (and hopefully getting an invite to say thanks), start with an events management course.
Jade will talk your ear off about rowing if you let her. She studied an MA and NCTJ diploma in Journalism at Brunel but her course-taking didn't stop there, having tried a number of different subjects since working here, even magic. Whether you're an expert who wants to share their knowledge, a student who's had a great experience or you just want to say hi, she'd love you to get in touch through our social media pages.
