In England, Wales and Scotland, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulates the health, safety and welfare aspects of the workplace and work environment. The majority of the qualifications that the HSE accredit are first aid related and might focus on using first aid at work, on children or in emergencies. As an independent regulator, the HSE focuses on serving the public, and aims to reduce the number of work-related death and serious injuries, looking at issues such as the treatment of pregnant women and the regulation of temperature in the office.
