The Department for Transport’s executive agency, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), is a part of the UK government responsible for maintaining a database of drivers and vehicles in Great Britain. The DVLA provides and maintains road safety regulations for the public as well as ensuring accurate records are maintained. All driving courses in the UK must be accredited by the DVLA, as they issue driving licences to people on passing driving tests – over seven million per year.
