In 1964, an Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists (AMSPAR) was set-up exclusively to offer occupational qualifications for service persons in the medical field – This was to help them advance their administrative careers.  AMPSAR now collaborates with City & Guilds and offers nationally recognized awards, certificates and diplomas in medical administration, medical terminology, primary care and health management, and medical secretaryship. The Association has centres all over the UK, ranging from Berkshire to the Isle of Man.
