RIP British summer

Courses to do when its raining outside

First published date May 16 2016 Amended date May 16 2016

Remember how fun those few days of sun were? As the nation mourns the British summer (will we see the sun again this year? nobody knows), over here on the Hotcourses editorial desk, we’ve decided to try and save the day. With our umbrellas at the ready, we’ve taken our sunhats off and our thinking hats back on to bring you a list of things you might want to try when it’s raining outside.

Plan your next trip…

There’s nothing like planning a holiday to put you in the spirit. Unfortunately, we can’t help you decide where to go, or how to pay for your next adventure, but we can help you learn how to speak another language. Whether it’s soaking up the sol in Spain (see what we did there), or escaping to Italy for the bank holiday weekend, learning the basic phrases could make all the difference.

…or escape once and for all

If the sunshine has awoken the adventurer in you, why not take a look at these courses that can help make those wanderlust dreams come true? A TEFL course is your passport to just about anywhere in the world; if you have a grasp of the English language and a desire to travel, let the rain pour and get learning.

Start a blog

It doesn’t have to be about travel, find something to say and get started. Baffled by Wordpress? Don’t know how to make your words stand out from the crowd? A blogging course can help make all the difference. Who knows, you might become a famous blogger and thank us one day!

Cook up a storm

One of the best things about summer? The strawberries and cream, the barbeques and the salads. If, like us, the foodie in you needs some TLC, why not learn how to impress at your next your next gathering with a cookery course? You never know, it might lift your spirits until the sun makes another guest appearance.

Relax, take it easy

You could be on a beach in the sun, but instead you’re at home, avoiding the rain. We’re not saying a yoga course is going to make you happier overnight, but it’s probably not going to make things worse. Learn how to take deep breath and relax without a beach in sight and you could be a happier person before you know it. That said, it might also help you get your dream summer body.

If none of these float your boat, we’ve got thousands of courses to choose from over on the site. Sure, it might not be Pimm’s in the sunshine, but it’s a good place to start.
