10 courses to do when you’re 10

Courses for kids this summer

Published August 03 2015

Schools out for summer! With six whole weeks stretching ahead, keeping the little ones out of mischief is top of every parent, caregiver or super nanny’s to do list right now. To help you out, we’ve found these ten course ideas that will keep every ten year old occupied.

Mini Monet

If your little monkey is all about arts and crafts and you’re not quite ready to sign your new upholstery up to a summer of PVA paws, why not take a look at this kid’s art class? Who knows, you may have a mini Monet in your midst.

A course for your little warrior

If your life is a war against e-numbers and additives to try and keep your warriors calm, why not buy them this interactive yoga DVD? With plenty of health and relaxation benefits, this course teaches lifelong benefits of stretching and breathing to children. The best part – it will cost you less than a tenner and kid’s yoga mats are just adorable.

Move over Dora the Explorer

If, like us, you spend your days wondering just why your parents didn’t send you to Spanish courses as a child (sigh) this is one for you. We’ve all seen the evidence that a child’s mind can quickly pick up a second language, so why not get them started this summer?

My baby loves to dance

If your little rascal likes to tap, pirouette and spin around the house, a kid’s dance class might be just what you have been searching for. From tap dancing to Zumba, those petite feet will be moving all summer.

Tiny tai-chi

Did you know tai-chi can improve balance, concentration and attention? Make September a whole lot less painful and introduce your youngsters to the joys of tai-chi. (You can thank us later).

Take good care of my baby

We can’t stop you wanting to wrap your precious spawn up in bubble wrap every time they leave the house, but we can give you the reassurance that they will know what to do if they get into trouble. Sound like something you are interested in? Sign them up to a children’s self defence class this holiday.

Maid Marian and Robin Hood

If you’ve got a brood that dreams of adventure, a summer of archery sessions could be the most exciting gift you can give them. Don’t worry; it’s far less risky than it seems, with trained instructors on hand to ensure everything runs to plan.

Child’s clay

Roll up those sleeves and get ready to make a mess with a children’s pottery class. Far more exciting than just painting a readymade pot in a cafe, getting stuck in and learning how to shape, spin and mould is bound to keep those miniature hands happy.

Little chef

It’s never too early to get children excited about cooking and healthy eating. Sign your budding chef’s up to a hands-on morning of experimenting with food and learning about fresh ingredients.  Who knows, getting them to eat their broccoli might not be such a battle after this.

The school of rock

Let your mini Hendrix become the talk of the playground in September by signing them up to a holiday music course. We particularly love the look of this ten week guitar course for your little rocker.
